Vacations, Everyone’s Multiple-Choice Pop Quiz

“The pain of parting is nothing to the joy of meeting again.” — Charles Dickens

Our Latest Winning Choices

Are you a gambler? What odds excite you the most? Often, answering multiple choice quizzes can be a bit of a gamble. If I ever scored poorly on these quizzes, I always felt that I had gotten the sequence completely wrong.

What was it again?  Was it A, D, B, B, C, A? I forget.

However, when it comes to choosing vacation options, the 2-part multiple choice quiz is much simpler.

What will it be this time?

Undoubtedly, the answers are:

    • A) Somewhere New
    • B) Somewhere Familiar

    • C) Back to the Land
    • D) Back to the Cities

Our recent vacations:

    • During Covid, we chose A + C (Something New and Back to the Land) when we visited Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park.

    • Last year, we chose A + D (Something New and Back to the Cities) with our Spring Vacation in Belgium, and the Netherlands.

    • This Spring, we chose B + D with a C chaser (Something Familiar and Back to the Cities + Back to the Land) by visiting Las Vegas, Reno, and the Lake Tahoe area!

Wheel of Fortune!

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is happy-vacation-time.jpgOur most recent vacation started with an energetic long weekend with friends Mary & Neal in Las Vegas and Henderson, NV. What wonderful hostess and host! They took us to the Blue Man Group show, dinner at Oscar’s near Fremont Street, a local book fair, another dinner at the Venetian Hotel, buzzed the Bellagio Hotel and their Conservatory/Botanical Garden Spring Show, another show called Absinthe, antiquing in Bolder City, a chocolate manufacturing tour at Ethel M Chocolate, and a final weekend Kings Fish House Dinner back in Henderson, near their new home and backyard oasis!

When we attended the Blue Man Group show we all received $5 gift cards to Pinkbox Doughnuts. We found one and traded those $5 gift cards for one fancy doughnut each! When we posed outside the Pinkbox Doughnuts store, the security guard actually photo bombed us! Multiple Yummy Bonus!

After a two-part flight to Reno we had dinner with friends Dale, and Trisca in Sparks, NV. It was wonderful to catch up!

Since we always enjoy forest bathing and water bathing opportunities in other forests, and other waters, we finished our Revisiting Nevada Tour with a couple of days gliding around Lake Tahoe and Truckee before flying home!

While driving up the mountain road to South Lake Tahoe, Sirius Radio in the rental car started playing the Flower Duet by Léo Delibes! If you know the song, you know it’s all about increasing elevation. British Airlines enjoyed the tune so much that they used the song for a long running ad campaign. Exquisitely Timed Musical Bonus!

Naturally, we took plenty of photos and enjoyed documenting our precise locations this vacation:

    • SEA Airport 47.4484° N,122.3086° W
    • Las Vegas 36.1716° N Latitude, 115.1391° W Longitude
    • Reno 39.5308 N Latitude, 119.8149W Longitude
    • South Lake Tahoe 38.9366 N Latitude, 119.9866 W Longitude

Once again, we felt like we got away from home for a while to revisit some places where those wild celebrities come out to play, we took some time to reconnect with old friends, and saunter again around a favorite Lake Tahoe paradise.

After all the commotion of Las Vegas, and Reno, those retro posters all around the Lake Tahoe perfectly set the calming tone to complete our Spring Vacation:

    • Beautiful Lake Tahoe, Mountain Views with Cool Blue Hues
    • The Perfect Playground, Truckee
    • Relax. You’ve arrived, Lake Tahoe, California

Each vacation is a bit of a gamble regarding health, transportation, weather, events, shows, hotels, and culinary options.  However, this vacation, the odds were really stacked in our favor, so we kept hitting Nevada and California Jackpots over, and over, and over once again!
